Leveling, tamping and stabilizing machine VPRS-05 is designed for lining, tamping, leveling, stabilization and  transversal stability improvement of tracks and switches.
The machine is used for construction of new, and repair and maintenance of the existing railroads with gauges of  1520 mm with  rails types up to R-75 inclusive, with concrete and wooden sleepers bedded on the various types of ballast and rail fastening.
The machine is equipped with an additional removable device for third rail hoisting  for operation on heavy switches with concrete bars. This device allows to lift the third rail and partially tamp a long bar in the 3rd point of for its fixation.
VPRS-05 is equipped with two-sleeper tamping units for two-sided tamping of one sleeper and one-sided tamping of two adjoining sleepers. «Lincoln» automated lubrication system is installed in these units.
A stabilization mechanism consisting of two vibration units with opposite eccentric masses is installed in the base of the machine.
In the course of work on a designated portion of track VPRS-05 does a first run where it measures the parameters, sets the track in design position, tamps it and fastens in the plan view. The second run (return run) stabilizes the tamped portion and permanently sets its position.
A microprocessor-based system allows to control all the operating devices, calculates controlling variables for track alignment in 1-run and 2-run modes, observes the aligned track during an operating run in alignment and tamping modes, checks track settlement during 1st and 2nd runs when stabilization units are active, inspects and diagnoses 86 machine condition parameters.
VPRS-05 can autonomously move along main tracks to the operation site thanks to its high traveling speed, on-board radio station, transport safety system  and automated fire detecting and extinguishing system.
The machine is designed for operation in U1 environmental class conditions as per GOST 15150, but for operation at the ambient temperature from -10°C till +40°C with non-frozen ballast.
